Dear debaters, Dear adjudicators, Dear everyone,
On behalf of the organizing team and the Jacobs University Debating Society I warmly welcome you to the 6th edition of the Jacobs Open Debating Tournament 2010. The tournament will take place 29. - 31. January 2010 again on the magnificent campus here in Bremen.
The Jacobs Open has a successful and rich tradition of bringing about the best that Jacobs University as well as the City of Bremen can offer and I am determined to provide a similarly great experience this year. The tournament will be more focused on the university campus, so not only will time management be easier, but I am also very glad to welcome back the traditional Saturday Night Black Tie event on Campus! More details can be found in the respective sections of this website.
Over the past years, the Jacobs Open attracted experienced teams from all over Europe, and I am looking forward to yet another tournament filled with heated debates, sharp arguments and comprehensive rebuttal.
The Jacobs Open has always stood in the tradition and history of the Hanse merchants, and I am eager to witness that unique atmosphere of quality discourse and competition – which has been so special for the past Jacobs Open – once more next year here in Bremen.
Until then all the best and I am looking forward to welcoming you here on our campus in the heart of Northern Germany, Bremen!
Salomon Theinert, Convenor
PS: More detailed updates will follow soon, until then be reminded that we will open registration on 01. December.
